The Smell of France

Since it's been chilly here, we have unpacked some of our sweaters from the vacuum save bags.  The really neat thing about these clothes is they smell like France.  Or at least they smell like my laundry detergent and fabric softner.  It took me two months to find a nice smelling detergent.  I loved running the dryer because the whole bathroom would smell like "Ruby Jasmine" and fabric softner.  I am sure that our clothes probably shouldn't smell so much like the detergent.  It is probably a testament to the fact that we never quite knew if we were doing the laundry the right way.  The instruction were in French and they were cryptic.  We turned the knob to 5 and prayed that it worked.  The soap probably didn't get rinses completely out.  Regardless, I am glad I can put on a sweater and remember Thoiry.  Some days I actually miss it, and I will certainly miss my smell of France.
