Getting Out of the House
Yesterday I hopped on a bus, then a tram, then another bus to go to the city. I went to the International Red Cross Museum near the United Nations. The museum was nice, the layout was strange but I'm sure I was the only one that cared about that. Then I hopped back on a bus and went to Starbucks. I tried desperately to like the Iced Gingerbread latte I ordered while I read a book. It was a rainy cold day, but it was really nice to get out of the house and explore. I don't do it enough, but I have promised myself now that babysitting has been cut back considerably I will do it more often. Today I am going to try to find the Library in English because they are having a book sale. Maybe I'll post up at another Starbucks (you can guarantee that English will be spoken). Regardless, I'm trying...God knows I'm trying.

WOOT! (for trying)
ReplyDeletethats awesome. out of curiosity, how similar are the prices at starbucks there compared to here? just curious.
yeah! that's what I'm talking about!! Hop a train, take a bus, so European! I was talking to a substitute teacher at work the other day who speat several years abroad, 2 of them in France. He knew of your little town. He told me to tell you not to despair. The French are very close knit and resentful of the Englander and, us, by default. Not to take it personally, although that is very diffcult. He also said, the french are homebodies, so they tend to stay in the same geographical area all their lives, so their towns, villages are full of people and families that have been there forever, know everyone else and their families and most of them would never dream of doing what you and Ronny are doing (living in a foreign country) for a year. So, essentially, they are "simpletins", "Townies", "hayseeds", etc. Keep that in mind, next time they try to make you feel stupid. Tell them the earth is not flat, and move on! Oh, and I hope none of them have become blog followers...How can I post this as "rr said..."
